Trappe Remembers Michael Killian

Plaque unveiled at playground in his memory.

Michael Killian, a former Trappe resident and PECO employee, died five years ago in a work-related accident. However, as indicated by the turnout for his memorial plaque unveiling at Water Works Park on Monday, the love for a husband, father, co-worker and friend will always remain. Before the service, family and PECO co-workers chatted and children, including his daughters Grace and Emily, romped and climbed around the playground that has been built and dedicated in Mr. Killian's memory. Longtime co-workers and friends Bill Newland and Deke Friday, at time, found talking about Mr. Killian to be an emotional experience. However, they also fondly remembered his "friendly ribbing." The children’s playground was funded by PECO in memory of Mr. Killian, who was killed in the line of duty. 39th Annual Keystone Grange Fair

The 39th Annual Keystone Grange Country Fair was this past Saturday at Water Works Park.

The 39th Annual Keystone Grange Country Fair was this past Saturday at Water Works Park. Boasting all models of tractors, cars and trucks, as well as vendors, the Grange Fair offered fun for everyone. The Grange Fair had activities for all ages, including cow pie bingo, pet contests, hay bale tossing, a kids tractor pull, a car and truck parade, an antique tractor parade, horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo, cow milking and face painting. There was all types of food, including ice cream, and various vendors and businesses throughout the area. Trappe TV Ready to Go Live

In other business, residents advised to help curb stormwater runoff this summer.

The Trappe Borough Council discussed the Trappe TV channel and playground safety at Tuesday night’s meeting. Manager Jacqui Guenther updated the council and community members on the status of the Trappe TV channel. The channel, which will be used for public service announcements and borough news, is set to go live this month. The council discussed options for advertising on the channel and determined that businesses within a 15-mile radius of the borough building can purchase advertising on the channel. As the resolution stands now, ads will cost $1 per day and can be purchased for 30 days or less. At the end of 30 days, advertisers can renew their contracts, Guenther said. The communities observe their first-ever joint Memorial Day celebration.

Trappe and Collegeville joined together to celebrate Memorial Day with a parade down Main Street. The day was capped off by festivities and fireworks at Water Works Park.

Memorial Day Parade Will Close Trappe's Main Street for Three Hours

Area residents invited to join celebration for first-ever event.

The following was released by Trappe Borough through Trappe Alerts: Main Street will be closed on Monday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to noon for the first-ever Memorial Day Parade. Fire company volunteers will help direct traffic away from the parade route. Come celebrate with us as the Historic Muhlenberg Partnership 300 kicks off off the 300th Anniversary of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg's birth! The parade route begins at Augustus Lutheran Church and will end at Water Works Park.  Bring the whole family to see the floats, bike brigade, horse-drawn carriages, veterans and public officials and so much more.

The Collegeville Lions Club hosted its annual egg hunt Friday at Water Works Park. Families attended the event as kids scooped up their hidden quarry.
