St. Eleanor Parish is holding its third annual food drive after masses on Feb. 2 and 3, which will benefit local food pantries. Collections, manned by young people from the Confirmation Class, Giving in Faith for Teens (G.I.F.T) and the Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P), will be held at the parish, located at 647 Locust Street in Collegeville, after 5:15 p.m. mass on Feb. 2, and after masses beginning at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 Noon and 7 p.m. on Feb. 3. All donations will benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantries in Collegeville and Schwenksville, and Project Outreach in Royersford. Archbishop Charles Chaput's press conference addressed eight of 27 cases of priest suspensions
The Rev. Robert W. Povish, a former in-residence priest at St. Eleanor's Parish in Collegeville, is one of five priests removed from ministry, according to a press conference held by Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput on Friday afternoon, May 4. Povish was among 27 priests suspended following a February 2011 grand jury report that charged the Archdiocese of Philadelphia had allowed several priests to remain in active ministry despite what the grand jury deemed credible allegations of abuse or misconduct. Those on leave face accusations of inappropriate behavior or boundary issues with minors, or of more serious abuse, according to a March 2011 interview with archdiocesan Director of Communications Donna Farrell. Maggie Scillia submitted the following information: St. Eleanor Roman Catholic Church, Collegeville held their closing Centennial Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 16. The parish has been giving thanks for the 100 years it has been serving the people of the Collegeville area. Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., the and newly installed leader of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia first dedicated the St Eleanor new parish center which added 10 new classrooms, a new library and cafeteria and additional meeting space for the Parish Ministries. The additional classrooms enabled St. Eleanor for the first time, to offer a new pre-kindergarten program. Matthew James DiGiacomo, a Skippack resident and 2000 Perkiomen Valley High School graduate, was killed in a car crash on Sunday, Oct. 16. He was 29. (Read his obituary here.) According to his LinkedIn Page, Mr. DiGiacomo graduated from St. Joseph's University in 2004 with a bachelor's in pharmaceutical marketing. He had been working as a sales consultant for Novartis Pharmaceuticals. St. Eleanor Church hosted its centennial youth event Saturday.
St. Eleanor Church, in celebration of the parish's 100th anniversary, hosted and sponsored an event for sixth- through eighth-grade students. Entitled "Rejoice 2011," the event is an opportunity for the children to become closer to God, to be happy and energized about themselves. Attending the event was internationally known Catholic musician, composer and storyteller Steve Angrisano. He is a veteran musician and youth minister who has been a part of numerous events throughout the world, including several National Catholic Youth Conferences. He helps kids to spiritually grow through storytelling and his interactive, fun songs. The event is a mandatory for all of the students who will be making their Confirmation in the spring of 2012. …

Festivities continue this evening in Collegeville.
St. Eleanor Parish in Collegeville hosts its annual carnival this week. The carnival kicked off Tuesday and runs until Saturday. Times for the carnival are from 5:30 to 10 p.m. All five days include a concession stand at the fairgrounds with a full menu, including cheesesteaks, burgers, sausage sandwiches and fries. On Thursday and Friday only, there will be a seafood booth with shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, fried oysters, raw clams, fish and chips, french fries and more! The real problem is that the Church hides these monsters in eccliastical living situations,which is basically the Catholic priest version of prison,they meet every hour for count or prayer as they call it.
