Police: Lansdale Man Late on Rent, Attacks Landlord with Knife, Tire Iron

Basement dweller William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted for felony assault by Lansdale Police for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill the landlord of the Franklin Street home where he lived with a knife and tire iron.

Update Kane has turned himself in to Lansdale Police. Read the story here. Earlier Story Kane was able to get away from police on a felony assault charge. For now. A basement dweller named William Keith Kane, 23, is wanted by police for allegedly threatening to kill and for allegedly assaulting the landlord with a tire iron and knife.  Police believe, but have not confirmed, that Kane is in the Boyertown area. Kane lived in the basement at 400 Franklin St., police said. The homeowner was Kane's landlord. A felony warrant has been issued against Kane for the alleged assault at the same address, police said. Fire Severely Damages Green Lane Home

The fire started in the back bedroom of a Hoppenville Road home just after noon on Wednesday.

Police, EMS and firefighters responded to the 5400 block of Hoppenville Road in Green Lane, Marlborough Township, shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a building fire. According to a Red Hill Fire Police official, the blaze started in a back bedroom. "The back part of the house, there's nothing left," the official said. On the scene, responders found the home engulfed in smoke. The family living in the home were evacuated while firefighters battled the blaze, which consumed the building. No one was reported injured, but some family pets were not accounted for Wednesday afternoon. Drunken Driver was in Possession of Offensive Weapons, Police Say

The man was allegedly in possession of two metal expanding batons.

  A Towamencin man was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia and possessing an offensive weapon in relation to a DUI stop in Lower Salford, according to court records. A Pennsylvania State Police report states that Jesse Alexander, 31, was driving a green 1996 Chevrolet pick up at the intersection of Freeman School and Salfordville Roads in Lower Salford Township on Dec. 29 at 2:22 a.m. when he was stopped for vehicle code violations. According to police, Alexander allegedly exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Upon searching his vehicle, police allegedly found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and two metal expanding batons, which are considered offensive weapons. Body Found in Canal Matches Missing Woman's Description

Authorities recovered a body from the canal in Lambertville that matches the description of Sarah Majoras.

A body found Wednesday in the canal in Lambertville matches the description of missing New Hope bartender Sarah Majoras, authorities announced. Anthony P. Kearns said investigators will work with the medical examiner's office to positively identify the body. But Kearns, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor heading the investigation into Majoras' disappearance, said officials will continue to work to discover what happened to her. "There’s nothing to indicate that there’s been foul play," Kearns said during a 6 p.m. press conference, the second of the day. Police Seek Credit Card Fraud Suspect

The suspect has used cloned credit cards to purchase gift cards at various Walgreens locations in Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia and Montgomery counties

Towamencin Township Police are working on a joint investigation with the Pennsylvania State Police to identify a man authorities say is responsible for credit card fraud and other theft-related offenses in four Pennsylvania counties. Police said the man used cloned credit cards to purchase gift cards during the second week in January 2013. The man used the cloned cards at Walgreens stores in Flourtown, Drexel Hill and the Feasterville-Trevose area, police said. Police said the suspect also used a cloned credit card with the Philadelphia Parking Authority on M Street in Philadelphia on Jan. 10, 2013. Jogger Causes Lockdown at School in Franconia

Students told faculty they had seen an armed man in a ski mask.

A man who was out jogging is believed to have been the cause of a lockdown at West Broad Street Elementary School in Franconia on Thursday afternoon, police said. The school was placed on lockdown at about 1:40 p.m. after three fourth-grade students on the school's playground reported seeing a man in a black sweater and black-hooded mask with a gun along a nearby tree line. Franconia Township Police Chief Joseph Kozeniewski said authorities were "confident" that the children had mistaken the unidentified jogger for the armed person. "We are not sure where [the children] came up with the idea of a man carrying a gun," Kozeniewski said. Harleysville Man Charged in Check Fraud Scheme

Dae Woo, 55, of Harleysville, and Young Miller, 57, of Philadelphia, are facing 26 criminal charges, including felony forgery charges and theft by deception charges for allegedly passing fraudulent checks and making withdrawals at more than six banks

A Philadelphia-area man and woman are facing charges this month after police say they passed fraudulent checks  and made withdrawals at more than half a dozen banks in Bucks and Montgomery counties, including one in Plymouth Meeting. Plymouth Police have charged both Dae Woo, 55, of Harleysville, and Young Miller, 57, of Philadelphia, with 26 criminal counts that include felony forgery and theft by deception. In an affidavit of probable cause, police say they were first approached by a TD Bank corporate investigator, who had uncovered the alleged scheme, in late November. The investigator told police that he had been monitoring suspicious activity dating back to July 2012, when Woo allegedly opened a bank account in Willow Grove. Although …

Cash Reported Stolen from Collegeville Vehicle

Over $240 in cash was found in the the car, but the groceries were left intact in the trunk.

According to Lower Providence Police, a resident, along the 1000 block of Doris Drive in the Collegeville section of the township, reported that between $240 and $260 in cash was stolen from his vehicle. The incident was reported on Dec. 31, 2012. The resident told police that the previous night the vehicle was parked in his driveway, and was unsure if it was locked. The resident adds that his wife’s vehicle was parked along side his own, but was not disturbed. The resident said that both he and his wife were home all night, but heard nothing. By 9:45 a.m. the following morning, the resident discovered that his vehicle had been entered and ransacked, with the contents of its center compartment all over the front seats. The resident told …

Police: Alleged Credit Card Fraud Goes Up in Smoke

Individuals allegedly using stolen credit cards, purchased hundreds of dollars worth of cigarette cartons, as well as over $1,000 worth of gift cards.

Collegeville Police Department reported the Dec. 18 arrest of two males, suspected in purchasing over $508.14 worth of cigarette cartons and over $1,123.10 in gift cards with allegedly stolen credit cards. According to an affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Collegeville Police was contacted about a suspicious purchase of several cartons of cigarettes at the Wawa, located at 1860 S. Collegeville Road, using a credit card. A police officer reported to have witnessed the cartons placed in the back of a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Collegeville Man Suspected as Alleged Drug Dealer

A Collegeville Borough Police investigation found drug-related paraphernalia in a Collegeville Borough residence.

According to a Montgomery County District court document, District Judge Cathleen Rebar issued a search warrant involving controlled substances found at a residence along Glenwood Avenue in Collegeville Borough. The Collegeville Police Department and members of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force conducted the search at approximately 8 p.m. on Nov. 28. At least four of the occupants found at the premises, including one apprehended while leaving the residence, were detained.
