Former hockey star jailed for attacking his WCU roommate.
The former captain to the Pope John Paul II High School's hockey team will be spending his summer in prison, according to the Pottstown Mercury. Zachery Russell, 20, of Gilbertsville, was sentenced to three to 23 months in Chester County prison for attacking his West Chester University roommate. Russell attacked the roommate when he found out he'd reported his drug and alcohol use to school authorities, said the report. "This was an all-out, unprovoked attack," said Deputy District Attorney Michelle Frei, describing what happened in the Brandywine Hall dormitory at WCU last April to the Mercury. "It was not a one-punch case." For the full story, visit this Pottstown Mercury story.

The lockdown was a precaution taken by school officials.
The Limerick Post reports that school officials locked down Pope John Paul II High School on Wednesday morning after a situation was "perceived as a threat." In such a situation, the school's procedure is to secure the school and contact Upper Providence police. Students and teachers are confined to the building and people are prevented from entering the building from the outside during a lockdown. However, school officials told the Post that although they thought there was a threat, that "after further investigation it was determined that no threat existed and the school day continued as normal."
