April Fool's Weekend Weather Outlook

Yesterday was cool and today will be slightly warmer, but this weekend will yet again bring us cold and damp conditions

It is hard to believe that March is coming to an end already. The days are just flying by faster and faster. If you have any plans for outside festivities this weekend, I would suggest bringing a coat and an umbrella because it will be cold and dreary for the majority of Saturday and Sunday. This morning was yet again freezing with temperatures in the mid 30s. As the afternoon rolls around, partly cloudy skies will allow it to feel pleasantly comfortable with temperatures rising into the mid- to upper-50s. Clouds will start to increase by the late afternoon rush hour as a disturbance from the west creeps in. Rain is not expected to arrive until around midnight, if not later. Temperatures will fall into the low 40s with a southeasternly …

More Soaking Weather In Store For The Weekend

The sun will try its best to poke through the clouds today, but more rain is expected to put a damper on any plans for the weekend

March did not really come marching in, but it it's definitely leaving some muddy bootprints. Even though it's the second day of the month, the sun seems shy as it hides behind the clouds. My spring break from college starts today, and this is not what I want to see; my hopes are high for a potentially beautiful pattern next week. Today will start out in the upper 30s with mostly cloudy skies. The sun will try its best to come out in the afternoon, which can bring the high temperatures to the low 50s. If the sun is too shy to come out, the temperatures may not reach the 50 degree mark. By the afternoon commute, clouds will quickly take over and thicken as a storm system approaches from the southwest.  Before I carry on, if you plan on …

Wet Weather Calls For A Lousy Leap Day

This day only comes once every four years - and it will be a wet and messy one.

As an undergraduate attending Penn State University, an extra day of classes from the Leap Year of 2012 is a little bit disappointing. To make things worse I can now expect dark, gloomy and wet weather for the entire day into tomorrow. Depending on your location, some wintry precipitation may be possible in the early morning. The more north you are, for example in Lehigh Valley, some sleet and freezing rain could start around the morning commute. Rain will quickly take over and may be heavy at times during the afternoon. The high temperatures will be a bit cooler than the previous days in the lower 40s. The winds will stay relatively calm blowing from the east-southeast.  Tonight will be cool and calm with some lingering showers. The …

January Showers Bring February Flowers?

Unseasonably warm air will engulf the region this week, as high temperatures may hit records making it feel like mid-spring.

This week may be no suprise to some people, since this winter season has been the fourth warmest in recorded history. That rank may become even closer to number one as the meteorological winter comes to an end next week.  The meteorological winter runs from December through February, and depending on how warm the high temperatures reach within the week, this winter may almost be the warmest ever in some cities.  Today, expect mostly sunny skies and the start of mild temperatures resulting in a beautiful day. High temperatures will creep into the upper 50s with a south-southeast wind increasing in the afternoon at 10 to 15 mph. Tonight, clouds will increase with the possibility for some isolated showers in spots. The night temperatures will…

Is the Weekend Winter Storm A Bust?

Today and tomorrow will be pleasant with sunshine and a few clouds, but will a major winter storm plow the region on Sunday?

After saying this several times, I am going to say it again: This winter is really frustrating. For the last couple of days, several weather enthusiasts like myself have been baffled with the possibility of a snowstorm this Sunday. Every model after the next has been part of this unsettling war, in that predicting such a system is extremely difficult and risky. The problem is warning the public about such a system.  On a lighter note, the storm is most likely going to move a little south making our region escape such a major impact on snow accumulations. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news for the snow lovers out there. Today will be nice with clouds breaking way to partly sunny skies in the afternoon. High temperatures are expected to …

Warm Temperatures Followed By Rain for Thursday

Expect to see some sunlight this afternoon before clouds take over, as a storm system from the Southeast will bring rain to the region Thursday

I have to say that this winter is quite fustrating. It is to the point that we have to keep walking outside in order to decide what to wear. One day the high temperatures will barely reach the 30 degree mark, then the next, sunny and mild with temperatures pushing the 50s. For the rest of the week, your thick eskimo-like parka can stay in the closet for now, as temperatures will stay relatively constant in the upper 40s. Today will start out overcast with temperatures in the mid 30s. A slight Northwest wind may make it feel a little chilly during the morning commute. As the sun reaches its peak, it will have enough power to evaporate the low level clouds and help break the gloomy skies. By mid-afternoon, expect partly sunny skies with a …
