Police, Fire and EMS Stats Released in Perkiomen Township

Pennsylvania State Police reported 94 incidents, Perkiomen Township Fire Co. responded to 13 incidents, and there were 43 ambulance requests in February.

  Perkiomen Township officials released the police, fire and ambulance logs for the month of November, which included 94 Pennsylvania State Police calls, 14 Perkiomen Fire Company incidents, and 43 ambulance requests from Trappe Ambulance and Lower Frederick Regional Ambulance Corps.  Pennsylvania State Police Four assaults, two burglaries, one suspicious person, one suspicious vehicle, and two criminal mischief incidents were reported in the month of February in Perkiomen Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police’s month-end report. Pennsylvania State Police reported 118 incidents, Perkiomen Township Fire Marshal noted 16 calls, and there were 30 ambulance requests in the month of August.

Perkiomen Township officials released the police, fire and ambulance logs for the month of August, which included 118 Pennsylvania State Police calls, 16 incidents from Perkiomen Fire Co., and 30 ambulance requests from Lower Frederick Regional Amulance Corps and Trappe Fire and EMS Company. PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE According to the Pennsylvania State Police, there were 16 collisions in August, six of which resulted in injuries. There was one disorderly conduct, 12 disturbances and six domestic incidents reported, and two Protection From Abuse order served. Motorcycle Rider Flown to Hahnemann After Crash in Perkiomen Township

Extent of injuries unknown, although he was conscious at the scene

A local man was Medvaced to Hahnemann University Hospital after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a silver Honda sedan on Gravel Pike/Route 29 in Perkiomen Township on Sunday evening, May 13, said Pennsylvania State Trooper Derik Frymire. The Honda's driver, Richard Broder of Skippack, was attempting to turn left onto Route 29 from Harrison Avenue when two motorcycles came from over the hill of the road, and the motorcycle in the lead crashed into the driver's side of the Honda, Frymire said. The motorcyclist, Timothy Schmidt of Big Road in Gilbertsville, "flew 96 feet in the air and landed on the shoulder of the right lane," Frymire said. Schwenksville woman suspected of DUI of a controlled substance

Schwenksville resident Phyllys Callery, of Riverside Avenue, was arrested on suspicion of DUI of a controlled substance after and hitting a fence and flipping her car in a one-vehicle crash in Lower Frederick, Wednesday afternoon, May 2. Callery was driving eastbound in the 100 block of Zieglerville Road, and a witness reported her Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high rate of speed. When Callery approached a sharp left curve in the road, the car drove off the road, hitting a resident's fence and going up part of a tree trunk before the vehicle flipped, coming to rest on its roof, said Lower Frederick Police Chief Paul Maxey. UPDATE: Continuing Investigation in Skippack Crash, Police Say

Three people were taken to area hospitals following two-vehicle crash on Route 73, Feb. 6.

Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to investigate -- and charges are pending in -- a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Route 73/Skippack Pike in Skippack Township shortly before 3 p.m. Feb. 6. Thomas Martin Shortall, 33, of Schwenksville was driving Subaru Forrester west on Skippack Pike when, as he reportedly told police at the scene, he fell asleep at the wheel and drifted to the right, striking a guide rail at 4533 Skippack Pike. Shortall then traveled into the eastbound lane, colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael D. O'Callaghan, 42, of Schwenksville. Lower Frederick Seeking New Planning Commission Member

In other business, township is applying for grant and the regional ambulance corps has begun its membership drive.

• Lower Frederick is looking for a new member for its planning commission, according to Planning Commission Chair Crystal Gilchrist. The position is open because planning commission member Ralph Walters has decided to retire after close to 50 years of service. Anyone interested in the position can stop by the township building to pick up an application. • A resolution was passed Tuesday night for the township to apply for a grant from PECO Green Regions that will go towards purchasing a 2.8 acre property on the Lower Frederick and Limerick Township border, with the intentions of keeping it open space, said township manager Tamara Twardowski. The township is applying for a $10,000 grant, and one guideline of the grant is that the township …

Pennsylvania State Police Briefs: Crash in Perkiomen Township, Reported Theft

A police report does not indicate a conviction. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Two Green Lane residents were taken to Phoenixville Hospital for evaluations following a two-car crash at Gravel Pike and Ott Road in Perkiomen Township, Tuesday afternoon. According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, a Honda Accord driven by Haji Omarzai, 73, of Philadelphia, turning left onto Ott Road from Gravel Pike/Route 29. A Ford Escort, driven by Vitali Gotowchikow, 65, of Green Lane was traveling south on Gravel Pike. The Honda Accord turned in front of the Ford Escort, which struck the passenger side of the Honda, the report states. Lower Frederick EMS transported Gotowchikow and his passenger, Sharon Gotowchikow, 67, to the hospital. Norm’s Save Station and a private towing company towed the vehicles from the scene. …

Police Chief Discusses Details of Lower Frederick Shooting, Standoff

Defendant Stephen Jacobs is facing multiple charges – including criminal attempted murder – in connection with incident.

Lower Frederick resident Stephen Jacobs is in Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail following his arrest in connection with a shooting and standoff incident at his Fulmer Road residence Wednesday night. According to Lower Frederick Police Chief Paul Maxey, Jacobs is charged with two counts of criminal attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, two counts of terroristic threats, three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of possession of an instrument of crime. Jacobs was arraigned Thursday at District Justice Maurice Saylor’s office in Gilbertsville. Update: Woman Flown to Hospital in One-Car Crash in Lower Frederick

The driver will be cited for careless driving, police say.

A Harleysville woman suffered injuries in a one-car crash after she "failed to negotiate" a right curve on Main Street in Lower Frederick, Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The yellow Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Robin Muller, 26, "traveled across the northbound lane and exited the roadway," according to the report. The car then struck a utility pole and a tree. The vehicle partially blocked the northbound lane, police said. The pole was only "scraped" by the vehicle, and no one in the area lost power. Fire police directed traffic away from that portion of Main Street as emergency responders attended to Muller and investigated and cleared the scene. Portion of Route 29 in Schwenksville Re-Opened After Two-Car Crash

No medical transport for drivers or passenger; vehicles towed from the scene.

No major injuries were reported in connection with a two-vehicle crash on Route 29 -- near the Schwenksville fire house -- shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. According to a preliminary investigation, Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Watts said the crash's cause may be "weather related." One of the cars, a silver-colored sedan, was traveling on Route 29 when it apparently hydroplaned over a puddle and crossed into the next lane of travel, colliding with the front end of a black pickup truck, Watts said. Both vehicles suffered heavy front-end damage. The state police had to wrap up their investigation before they could determine whether any citations should be issued, Watts said.
