Buckley brings extensive experience and a decorated history to Lower Frederick Police Department

After serving 22 years as a trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, long-time Perkiomen Township resident David Buckley has joined the Lower Frederick Police Department as a Class-A officer. "When you have an opportunity to get somebody that has his vast amount of experience, education and ability, it's like hiring a seasoned veteran to basically take over what is considered more of an entry-level spot," said Chief Paul Maxey, of the Lower Frederick Police Department. "It's a huge win for us." Buckley, who retired from the state police in March, began his life of public service in 1985, when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Morse code intercept operator. Police blotter

Burglary at Moccia’s Train Stop

A police report does not indicate a conviction. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Police are investigating a break-in at Moccia’s Train Stop that occurred around 2 a.m. Feb. 16. Nothing was stolen, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. The burglar (or burglars) unsuccessfully attempted to pry open the back door, and then used an unknown object to smash a window in the southeast corner of the building, police said.  The unknown person (or people) then entered the Gravel Pike business. An alarm was activated, and the burglar(s) fled through the broken window. Troopers at the scene lifted partial shoe prints off the broken glass, according to correspondence from Pennsylvania State Police, and there was “a powdery mark just inside the window on a boot that looked as if it might have been left by latex gloves.” Anyone …

It's unfortunate that this continues to be called a standoff, making it sound more dramatic than it really was. The reason there was a delay in him being taken into custody was that local law enforcement wanted to wait for the swat-type team to arrive, and that took a long time. That very problem was cited by the Lower Frederick chief in another story you published recently.   more ›
