Slow cooking makes some good eating

Put your crock pot to work this week for some easy and delicious meals.

Some say Crock-Pot, others say slow cooker, but regardless of what you call it, that appliance you probably got as a wedding gift can save a lot of time in the kitchen this winter. Cold-weather dishes like soups, stews, chili and roasts are perfect for slow cooking. You may remember your mom using the Crock-Pot for family dinners. Introduced by Rival in the early 1970s as a cooker for beans, the new appliance didn't catch on until the manufacturer discovered its usefulness for cooking meats. Original Crock-Pots were round in shape, without a pullout liner, and only offered a single temperature setting.
