Lower Frederick Supervisors Pass Property Maintenance Code

Blatant negligence that threatens public safety could lead to fines. In other news, Operation Drug Take Back returns to the township building.

If you live in Lower Frederick Township, make sure your grass is cut. Township supervisors passed the Property Maintenance Code in a 2-1 vote Tuesday night at the Board of Supervisors meeting; the code requires residents to reasonably maintain their property. This code is identical to the statewide code, with few minor exceptions. It was adopted to replace a severely outdated code that has been around since the '50s, according to Township Manager Tamara Twardowski. The intent of the ordinance is not to force residents to cut their grass, but to keep the community presentable and make sure that property owners are maintaining their lots and keeping them safe for the public. “We’re doing it to address public safety,” said Twardowski. “When …

Problem is that the administration doesn't know how to talk to people who complain so they have to read them the code.There are alot of 'safety" issues in the township to clean up before I cut my grass.   more ›

Lower Frederick Township Mulling Alternative Energy Ordinance

Residents are invited to weigh in on the matter.

Lower Frederick is considering an ordinance that will regulate the use of solar panels and wind turbines for commercial and residential power according to township officials. The Lower Frederick Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night to advertise the alternative energy ordinance, which will allow for public comment on the ordinance. Currently there are very vague regulations for the use of alternative energy sources for both commercial and residential power, and Township Chairman Ernest Schmitt said if this ordinance is passed, it will clear up any questions on the issue and give specific guidelines for what is allowed and what is not. Majority of Work to Begin on Godshall Road Bridge

Detour signs will be put in place by either the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

Notes from the Perkiomen Township Board of Supervisors meeting: • Godshall Road Bridge Project With the necessary easements now obtained, preliminary work is currently under way, according to Perkiomen Township Manager Cecile Daniel. The bulk of the work will most likely begin next week, and detour signs will be in place either by Friday or early next week. (See the PDF for the detour map.)
