‘Puss in Boots’ Coming to Perk Valley Next Week

Family Stages will perform at Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe.

  Family Stages, of Ambler, will perform “Puss in Boots” at the Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe next weekend. “Puss is a fashion-forward doer of great deeds. From her sleek chapeau to her totally boss boots, she demonstrates how important it is to ‘dress for success,’” says FamilyStages. Performances will be held at 2 p.m. on April 14 and 10 a.m. on April 15. Tickets are $10 an can be purchased by calling 215-886-9341 or visiting www.familystages.org.

Hungry for Ham? Augustus Lutheran Church Hosts Annual Dinner

Saturday night festivities at the church will help to fund the historic landmark.

It has become a landmark and icon of the Trappe landscape. The historic church, which was built in 1743, will host its annual Ham Dinner on Saturday night. From 5:30 to 8 p.m., members of the Augustus Lutheran Church and the public alike are welcome to attend this open event. Dinner will include "Ham, Hits and Happiness," according to the church's website. Tickets are available at the door, or ahead of time from church members Russ or Laurie or those involved in the church choir. The dinner is set for the church's Fellowship Hall (map). "A delicious dinner mingled with music from our choir members with NOT JUST CHURCH MUSIC!" is the event's description on the church's website. "We'll have plenty of popular hits too!" German Delegation Visits Historic Trappe Sites

Stopped at sites with ties to Lutheran history in advance of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation

The Speaker's House nonprofit released the following information: Trappe Borough hosted a group of German dignitaries headed by Stephan Dorgerloh, Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday, May 14. The delegation is here to visit important sites in Lutheran history and to build international relations in advance of the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, sparked in 1517 by the posting of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses in Wittenberg, which is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Although 2017 is still five years away, Trappe will play an important role as it was the home of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg (1711–87), a German immigrant who initially organized the Lutheran Church in America and thus …

Trappe Council Meeting Opens with a Hearing on Open Space Funds

Open space funds going forward will be deposited into one account in Trappe Borough to ensure money is spent in a balanced and efficient manner.

Trappe Borough Council opened their monthly meeting on May 1 with a hearing on proposed Ordinance 417 involving open space funds. Currently in the borough, funds provided by developers for open space is designated to an “East Trappe Fund” and a “West Trappe Fund.” The funds in each account can only be used in the area they are designated. The proposed ordinance was introduced to the Planning Commission in March. It would create a single fund so that monies can be used anywhere in the borough for open space. After some discussion by Council, with an opportunity for public input, Trappe Council unanimously approved the ordinance. Resignation Leaves a Vacancy on Trappe Borough Council

Long-time councilman Matt Watson has resigned his position effective immediately. The elected post must be filled within the next 30 days

"Due to increased responsibilities and growth in my business, I find it hard at this time to devote the effort needed to serve the residents of Trappe Borough in the manner in which they deserve." Those were the words of Trappe Councilman Matt Watson as read in a letter by Borough Council President Fred Schuetz at the Feb. 7 Trappe Council meeting. Watson has served in this elected position since January 2004. After formally accepting the resignation, several council members acknowledged their appreciation of Watson's service to the community. The borough has 30 days to fill the vacant seat. Interested candidates must be registered as a voter and must have lived in Trappe Borough for at least one year. Memorial Day Parade Will Close Trappe's Main Street for Three Hours

Area residents invited to join celebration for first-ever event.

The following was released by Trappe Borough through Trappe Alerts: Main Street will be closed on Monday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to noon for the first-ever Memorial Day Parade. Fire company volunteers will help direct traffic away from the parade route. Come celebrate with us as the Historic Muhlenberg Partnership 300 kicks off off the 300th Anniversary of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg's birth! The parade route begins at Augustus Lutheran Church and will end at Water Works Park.  Bring the whole family to see the floats, bike brigade, horse-drawn carriages, veterans and public officials and so much more.
