Missa Bay, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ready Pac Foods, Inc., of Swedesboro, New Jersey is voluntarily recalling a total of 293,488 cases and 296,224 individually distributed units of fruit, vegetable, and sandwich products containing apples, as listed below, with the Use-by dates of July 8, 2012 through August 20, 2012 because they contain diced or sliced apples which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening food borne illness in a person who eats a food item contaminated with it. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. The illness primarily impacts pregnant women and adults …

Missa Bay, LLC, a distributor for McDonald's, Wawa, Burger King and other restaurants, voluntarily recalled a total of 293,488 cases and 296,224 individually distributed units of fruit, vegetable, and sandwich products containing apples earlier this week. The recall was put in place because the products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes which can cause fever, muscle aches and gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea. Judge Gary S. Silow determined in Norristown courts Thursday that Joseph Bernard Hartenstein did not take "reasonable measures to be a Good Samaritan," according to a report in the Times Herald. Hartenstein, 21, of the 400 block of West Main Street in Trappe, reportedly found a wallet on Feb. 4 dropped by a Skippack resident at the Wawa located at 4121 Skippack Pike in Skippack. Security cameras at the Wawa caught all of the action on tape, according to the court reports. The wallet contained identification of the victim, credit cards and $200 cash. Tapes show Hartenstein picking up the wallet, from the floor near the entrance, and pocketing into his own coat, said the story in the Herald. On Feb. 14, police reported they questioned …

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meets again today, Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Board Room on the 8th floor of One Montgomery Plaza. Among the items of business on the agenda today is a resolution authorizing changes to the Public Health Code and the establishment of Distracted Driving Week in Montgomery County. According to the agenda, the commissioners will also be awarding 12 contracts worth over $600,000 for a variety of products like milk and juice from Wawa and mosquito control products to servies like the consultant for the Montgomery County Radio Committee. Pennsylvania State Police investigating case
A blue Oldsmobile Alero was stolen by an unknown person around 1:30 a.m., Feb. 11, after it was left running outside the Skippack Wawa. According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, a 33-year-old Norristown man left the car unlocked and running when the thief entered the vehicle and fled the scene, driving northbound on Route 113. The Alero's PA registration is GCS-4664. Anyone with information about the case, or anyone who witnessed the theft, can call the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks, 610-584-1250, incident number K03-1831955.

Early reports state vehicle hit gas tank
A Blue Bell woman is accused of DUI after a reported hit-and-run incident at the Skippack Wawa, at which a gas tank was struck, on the morning of Dec. 13. According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, Trooper Patrick Wise spoke to witnesses after the incident and obtained the registration number of the striking vehicle. He went to the registered owner's address and spoke with Susan Maria Mammoccio, 52, and during the conversation she allegedly "appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance." The report states that charges are pending.
