West Ward residents, led by Ray Liberto, organized a candlelight vigil for the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary in Railroad Plaza in Lansdale Sunday night, where each victim's name was read and a balloon released in their honor
It was the definition of "community." Organized by the west ward neighborhood in Lansdale, more than 100 citizens came together at Railroad Plaza in the borough Sunday night — candles aflame — for a vigil for the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, CT. Led by resident Ray Liberto, the vigil lasted about a half hour. Trinity Lutheran Church Rev. Paul Lutz opened the night with a benediction. The most touching part of the evening was the release of green and white balloons upon the reading of each victim's name by resident Drew Stockmal. Resident Lisa Patrick assisted with the balloons. Luminaries lined the sidewalk and driveway leading to the home of slain Plymouth Township police officer Bradley Fox on Friday night. A neighbor organized the vigil, which was attended by police departments from all over Montgomery County as well as hundreds of neighbors and friends. Plymouth Township police arrived in force on motorcycles and in cars, and stood at attention in the Foxes' driveway, surrounding Fox's widow Lynsay and their young daughter while department Chaplain Rev. Nicholas Salios spoke and prayed. Silence blanketed the street while Salios spoke, but sobbing could be heard as he finished. Friday, September 14 would have been Fox's 35th birthday. By Hillary Anderson Members of the Ursinus community came together in the college’s football stadium Monday night to grieve a loss of one of their own – Sam Morgan. Sam died unexpectedly on Friday, March 3, 2012. He was 21. Sam attended Ursinus College after graduating from high school, serving the Bears football team as an important part of the defensive line and adding to the campus community with his “infectious smile” and his unbreakable spirit, according to head coach Peter Gallagher. Sam joined a fraternity, Delta Pi Sigma, at Ursinus and quickly shared his “happy-go-lucky” attitude with his brothers. “He made that year of pledging one of the funniest I have ever experienced,” said his fraternity brother Liam Marston. “I am proud to …
