The 12-time All-Star catcher stopped at the Towne Book Center Feb. 13 to sign copies of his new book, ‘Long Shot.'
Hundreds of fans stood in a winding line along the perimeter of the Towne Book Center on Feb. 13 for a chance to meet a local baseball hero, Mike Piazza, who is in town signing his new book “Long Shot.” Bernie Schneider, a local resident, brought his son A.J. to meet Piazza, who was born in Norristown and grew up in Phoenixville. Schneider talked to Piazza about playing together in local baseball leagues in the mid-1980s, and showed the Hall of Fame hopeful a photo of A.J.’s room, decked out in Mets apparel and a big picture of Piazza “He said he really liked the fields we used to play at in Skippack,” Schneider said. Werewolves, Werelions and even Wereboars will soon make their way to Montgomery County, as Wereworld Series author Curtis Jobling pays a visit to local libraries, schools and the Towne Book Center in Collegeville. “The idea is to help create readers for life,” Kit Little, Towne Book Center marketing director, said. “It’s a unique experience.” Wereworld Series According to the Wereworld series website, Jobling has created a fantastic world filled with shape-shifting people, one of whom is a teen werewolf, who finds himself involved in a struggle to regain his homeland from a tyrant werelion king. When you've starred in sitcoms, talk shows, stage and film, the obvious next career step is…teaching high school in Philadelphia? For "Who's the Boss?" star Tony Danza, it was. Danza spent 2009 teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, and has written a book about it - "I'd Like to Apologize To Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High." Danza was brought to Ursinus College by the Towne Book Center in Collegeville to meet with fans and sign books. Television, film and stage star Tony Danza visited Ursinus College on Sept. 15 as part of a book tour for his new offering, "I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had." Towne Book Center coordinated the event, which drew roughly 200 Danza fans to Bomberger Hall. Danza, whose book chronicles his time spent teaching in Philadelphia's Northeast High School, regaled the audience with his thoughts on public education, the youth of today, and anecdotes from the classroom. The "Who's the Boss?" actor will promote his new book on Sept. 15, which chronicles his year teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia.
Actor Tony Danza will visit the Bomberger Auditorium at Ursinus College on Sept. 15 to promote his new book, "I Would Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High." The signing, held by Towne Book Center in Collegeville, will begin at 6:30 and costs $30 - admission price includes an autographed copy of the book. Danza, of "Who's the Boss?" and "Taxi" fame, spent 2009 teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia - the school district's largest school. The resulting book highlights his trials and tribulations as at teacher, and also features many portraits of both students and teachers. Governor Rendell will new promote his first book at the Providence Town Center from noon- 2 pm this Saturday
Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell will hold a book signing event on Aug. 25 at the Towne Book Center, formerly the Trappe Book Center, to promote his book "A Nation of Wusses: How America's Leaders Lost the Guts to Make Us Great." Collegeville Mom, I love you and your fair assessment. I saw this man come home late, drained and desperste for a way to "reach the kids". He is an extremely intelligent well versed man. He had a true passion for what he was teaching..truly knew the classics these kids were reading and tried to get through to them.
