Residents Enjoy Schwenksville Community Day [PHOTOS]

Residents came together in Meadow Park on Saturday.

At th 5th annual Schwenksville Community Day on May 4th, in Meadow Park welcomed Spring as well as citizens from all over the borough of Schwenksville. There was a wide variety of vendors with everything from a petting zoo to square dancing to the Schwenksville Fire Department serving an all American lunch. The petting zoo was a great opportunity for children of all ages to get up close and personal with many different types of animals like chickens, pigs and goats. Schwenksville Vet, Perkiomen Valley School District and Bluebell Driving School were a few of the businesses that joined in on the fun at Community Day. Knife-Wielding Woman Approached State Trooper in Schwenksville, Police Say

Marisa Kish, of Conshohocken, allegedly smashed the door of a Schwenksville residence and took a knife from the kitchen.

A Conshohocken woman was arrested after allegedly trying to stab a State Trooper in Schwenksville, according to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). Marisa Kish, 51, allegedly smashed the rear door of a residence on the 60 block of Main Street in Schwenksville Sunday at 6:30 a.m., while she was visibly intoxicated and causing a public disturbance, according to police. Kish allegedly obtained a sharp knife from the residence of the victim, a 53-year-old Schwenksville man, and attempted to stab a PSP Trooper, police said. The trooper was able to disarm Kish and took her into custody; charges, including aggravated assault, were filed at District Court 38-1-24. Montco Pastor Convicted of Mortgage Fraud

A pastor with New Millennium Life Restoration Fellowship was convicted today of fraudulently obtaining more than $6 million in home loans for properties in Schwenksville and Glenmoore.

A former Montgomery County pastor is facing up to 180 years in prison, after he was convicted of mortgage fraud earlier today in federal court. Michael Wilkerson, 47, of Pottstown, along with Denise Haines, 43, of Birdboro, were convicted of devising a scheme to defraud the former Chase Manhattan Bank by fraudulently obtaining $6 million in home loans for properties in Schwenksville and Glenmoore. Wilkerson, whose church – New Millennium Life Restoration Fellowship – has locations in Phoenixville and Spring City, recruited several of his congregants and their families to act as "straw purchasers" for a number of real estate transactions. Pennypacker Mills Project Earns PVHS Senior his Eagle Scout Honor

  Perkiomen Valley High School senior Sean Murphy was awarded the honor of Eagle Scout in October, after planning and installing a wooden fence and gates around the Children’s Heritage Garden at Pennypacker Mills. The garden is an important part of the historical site's new educational programing, and the fence and gates keep unwanted animals out. Murphy helped at a Pennypacker Mills plant sale and raffle to raise funds for the project, which was completed on a June weekend in 2011 with the help of his family, Schwenksville Scout Troop, Montco Fence Company and Pennypacker Mills. Murphy, who is planning his Eagle Scout Court of Honor in March, is one of only four percent of scouts who meet the necessary requirements to reach the Eagle …

You are only as old as you feel, right? Those in Schwenksville can do more than just say it. Men ages 45 and over are invited to join a men's senior baseball league. "A team is being formed in the Schwenksville area to participate in the Bux-Mont 45+ Men’s Senior Baseball League for the 2013 season," said a report in the Times Herald local sports agate. "Home games will be played Sunday mornings at the Camp Kweebec baseball field." The Camp Kweebec baseball field is located at 157 Game Farm Road in Schwenksville.
