Skippack Supervisors to Blooming Glen: Continue Public Improvements

Residents voiced concerns about development work that needs to be finished.

The Skippack Board of Supervisors decided to refuse Blooming Glen’s request to postpone some Phase II public improvements to Biltmore Estates; no vote was needed during the April 11 meeting at the township building. According to township Engineer Timothy Woodrow, the multi-million-dollar Phase II bond was posted personally (by Blooming Glen) in order to cover public improvements. However, houses in the development have not sold quickly enough to recoup expenses. The improvements include estate sign masonry and property fences. Before announcing a decision, Supervisors Chair Mary Beth La Belle asked her fellow board members, “What do you think?” “Build it!” chorused several residents in attendance. During the meeting, the request came …

Stepping Up to the Plate in Memory of Sue Jamieson

Proceeds from the softball tournament at Palmer Park will go to For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation.

"I can tell you from my own experience that there are people in this world who do really good things because it's just the right thing to do." Skippack resident Dave Jamieson used those words Saturday when talking about the people affiliated with For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, but that description could also be applied to the family, friends and neighbors who turned up for the first-ever softball tournament in his late wife's memory. The Softball for Sue event at Palmer Park was part of the senior project for daughter Kelly, who is entering her junior year at Perkiomen Valley High School. Sue Jamieson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She was treated, but it came back and metastasized in her liver, Kelly said. Sue died …

People by the hundreds turned out for the fireworks Monday.
