PV Upsets Softball in PAC-10 Semifinals

Perkiomen Valley Vikings cut short Spring-Ford softball's PAC-10 run, 3-0.

Pitcher Erin Hamm pitched lights out for the Vikings to aid in the 3-0 win over a Spring-Ford Rams squad that defeated PV two years in a row in the Final Four and twice already this season. "Starting off, they outplayed us," said Spring-Ford head coach Tim Hughes. "They deserved to win. They outcoached us. They did everything better than us. High School Baseball: Vikings Seniors Hoping to Go Out with a Bang, Beat Falcons 10-2

The final score was Perkiomen Valley 10, Pottsgrove 2.

In a season that has been full of “What ifs?” and “What might have beens” for manager Bill Feight and the Vikings, Tuesday night’s senior celebration was a microcosm of the entire season. At times this season, the Vikings have exhibited the talent and tenacity that had pre-season predictions projecting Perkiomen Valley in the thick of the hunt for the Pioneer Athletic Conference title. Then, there has been lapses that have cost the Vikings dearly, with examples such as the four-run lead that vanished against the Wildcats in the sixth inning, or the escape of the Bears when PV led until the final at bat. “We have definitely been frustrated this year,” said senior Andrew Kenney, who is Bloomsburg-bound next year. “We felt coming in that we …

High school boys basketball: Vikings take Rams to the wire, still in hunt for district bid

Rams 44, Vikings 39

The Vikings may not have qualified for the Pac-10 Final Four, but there will be basketball in the high school gym next weekend. Perkiomen Valley will play host to this year’s Pac-10 Final Four, with the first round slated to begin Friday night at 6 and 7:30 p.m. for the boys, and next Saturday at noon and 1:30 p.m. for the girls. With an opportunity to claim a District One tournament bid still within the grasp of the Vikings, every game is important down the stretch. “We know what we need to do,” said junior Erik Ragusa. “We…
