A car fell from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Friday morning and landed on the Conrail Railroad tracks below. The accident occured around 10 a.m. today in West Conshohocken Borough. The body of a 48-year-old male was discovered this morning along the railroad tracks beneath South Charlotte Street. According to a report by the Pottstown Mercury, police responded to call from Norfolk Southern shortly before 1:30 a.m. The report states that railroad workers discovered the body "half-sitting with his back against the wall under the bridge." Police are withholding the man's identification, pending notification of his family. Though there is no evidence of foul play, the body is currently being examined by the coroner's office, according to the Mercury's report. To read more of this story, click here. Police arrested an East Vincent (Chester County) woman in Phoenixville on Wednesday afternoon after she allegedly assaulted and robbed a resident of the Golden Age Manor retirement facility in Royersford. Donna Spencer, 45, is accused of striking the male victim in the head with a barbell before taking his cell phone and an indeterminate amount of cash. The victim identified Spencer to police, who said she was wanted in Chester County for a probation violation. More on Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch:

Family becomes trapped on island in the Schuykill

An apparent family field trip turned into a rescue operation in Royersford this afternoon when they had to be rescued from an island in the middle of the Schuykill River. Several fire and rescue companies responded to the scene to help bring the two adults and three children to shore. See Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch for more.

The turnpike doesn't go through West Conshohocken. Shouldn't this say the accident was in Bridgeport, because that's where the turnpike, Route 23 and Center Streee come together.   more ›
