A real-life Santa Claus has taken the initiative to help a pair of struggling Montco families
A pair of struggling Montco families will soon find themselves on the receiving end of a Christmas miracle, thanks to the efforts of 38-year-old Dutch Schrap, of East Coventry, who has decided to take his professional Santa routine to the next level. The son of the elder Santa Schrap, Dutch has followed in his father's snow-covered footsteps for the past 21 years. He's made appearances everywhere from the Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade to gigs with the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers, and he's even rung the opening bell at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. This year, however, he's looking to expand on his role by initiating Operation Nine Reindeer, which seeks to aid two families who are in desperate need of support. It all began on October 1, …

Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services helps older residents and their caregivers.
A lot of seniors live in Montgomery County and need help. Linda Forest, clinical deputy director of Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services (MCAAS) said the county has the third highest mean elderly population among counties in the state. Pennsylvania teeters between second and third “oldest” state in the nation (Florida is first and West Virginia waivers between second and third place.) The 2010 U.S. Census figures show 15% (or 119,981) of county residents are 65 years or older. Nearly 10% live alone. More than 200 Montgomery County centenarians came to a birthday party in June, said Forest. Not all seniors are well enough to be out attending a party. Many face difficulties caring for themselves – they may not be able to bathe, …

The senseless murder of 9-year-old Skyler Kauffman should inspire the Democrats to challenge the incumbent district attorney.
If there is a reason to challenge or remove the District Attorney in Montgomery County—this is it. Sklyer Kauffman was killed in the most savage brutal way a 9 year old could—by a sexual predator. It turns out that Skyler appears to have eluded death only three weeks ago when the suspect in this case actually had Skylar and another child in his apartment. The kids did what they were supposed to do—they told their parents, who called the cops. It appears the perp was given a pass on this incident. The District Attorney for Montgomery County, Risa Vetri Ferman, has stated: "You have to have a crime take place in order to file charges. … Everyone did what they were supposed to do, and unfortunately it wasn't enough to prevent the death of …
