Lower Providence Police are searching for a man they say used a blue dashboard-mounted light in his car to pull over a local woman on Evansburg Road
The Lower Providence Police Department has released a composite sketch of the man they say is impersonated a police officer earlier this week so he could pull over a Lower Providence woman and chat her up. The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s, approximately 5'11" tall, 190 lbs., with short brown hair. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a dark EMT-style uniform with a circular patch on the left sleeve. He did not display a badge. Police are looking for a man they say used a blue mounted dashboard light in his car to pull a local woman over in Lower Providence Township.
Authorities are currently seeking information about an alleged police impersonator possibly operating in the area. According to the Lower Providence Police Department, a local woman was driving on Evansburg Road on Monday, Feb. 11, at approximately 9 p.m. when she was stopped by a man driving a small four-door vehicle with a blue dashboard-mounted light. The man reportedly activated his light and the woman pulled into a parking area at Evansburg Road and Germantown Pike. The man, described as a white male in his fifties with short brown hair, was wearing a dark uniform with a patch on the sleeve, according to police. Over $240 in cash was found in the the car, but the groceries were left intact in the trunk.
According to Lower Providence Police, a resident, along the 1000 block of Doris Drive in the Collegeville section of the township, reported that between $240 and $260 in cash was stolen from his vehicle. The incident was reported on Dec. 31, 2012. The resident told police that the previous night the vehicle was parked in his driveway, and was unsure if it was locked. The resident adds that his wife’s vehicle was parked along side his own, but was not disturbed. The resident said that both he and his wife were home all night, but heard nothing. Lower Providence Police led the chase of alleged copper thieves, which ended in an attempted swim escape across the Schuylkill River.
Lower Providence Police report that the discovery of an attempted theft of approximately $300 worth of copper piping from the Collegeville Inn, resulted in a multi-municipal police car chase, after which, one of the suspects attempted to elude authorities by swimming across the Schuylkill River. The incident was reported on Dec. 28, when Lower Providence Police officer Jeremy Bonner was on routine patrol at approximately 9:32 a.m. The officer observed a length of rope hanging between the rear door of the Collegeville Inn, located at 4000 Ridge Pike in the Collegeville section of the township. Nice job Officer Bonner. Had it not been for his keen eye they may have never been caught. I do think the officers need more freedom in stopping these high speed chases before they start. I agree with Timothy that the officers should have shot out the tires or even the perps before the chase got started.
