Police Make Arrest in Public Masturbation Investigation

Piyush Kumar Agarwal, 29, of Audubon, is facing numerous charges in connection with seven incidents of indecency dating back to April 6.

Lower Providence and Upper Providence police departments have announced the arrest of 29-year-old Piyush Kumar Agarwal, of Audubon, in connection with a string of indecent exposure incidents dating back to April 6. An Upper Providence detective reportedly encountered Agarwal at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday at the trailhead of the Perkiomen Trail, near the intersection of Lower Indian Head Road and Upper Indian Head Road. Agarwal was standing outside of his vehicle, with the top button of his pants unbuttoned, according to the report. The report indicates that both Agarwal and his vehicle matched the descriptions given to police by prior victims. Police then approached Agarwal and placed him in custody, the report states. Collegeville's Phamous Phil's Now Offers Breakfast

Eggs and homefries now offered at breakfast, along with ribs, pulled pork and wings at lunch and dinner at Phamous Phil's.

The best ribs in the area can be found at Collegeville's Phamous Phil's, but the local barbecue joint has updated their menu to add more than just barbecue - introducing New York Strip Steak, pastas, and now even breakfast. According to an article in the Times Herald, Phamous Phil's breakfast is served from 8 a.m. until noon, with a menu that features "eggs, home fries, and a homemade hash mélange of prime rib, brisket, potatoes and peppers." Mike Vereb Wins Re-Election to Fourth Term

The Republican state Rep. outpaced Democratic challenger Kelly Devine in the 150th District.

With all precincts reporting, Republican. Mike Vereb is leading Democratic challenger Kelly Devine with 54.29% of the vote to win a fourth term as Pennsylvania state Representative in the 150th District. "I am very happy with all the support and I look forward to serving happily and effectively for the next two years," Vereb reportedly told The Times Herald. PV Municipalities: Sewer Rates Rising, Blame Lower Providence

Perkiomen Township, Collegeville and Trappe Boroughs are sending letters to rate payers explaining a sewer rate increase, citing Lower Providence as the cause.

  Perkiomen Township and Collegeville Borough announced at their monthly meetings that sewer rates will be going up due to a lawsuit between the Lower Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer Authority (LPVRSA) and Lower Providence Township. "The reason we're sending this [letter explaining a rate increase] out is that we had to build a new interceptor, and a small group of residents is holding it up with law suits, and Lower Providence is backing them," said Arnold Mann, Collegeville Borough Vice Chairman at the council's monthly meeting. Viewfinder: Lower Providence Car Show

The Lower Providence Parks and Recreation Department held its “Cars Under the Stars” event on Friday and Patch was there.

Lower Providence held its annual "Cars Under the Stars" event on Friday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Eagleville Plaza in the Metro Storage parking lot. The event benefited the Lower Providence Township Parks and Recreation Department. "The car show gives exhibitors the chance to show off the results of their hard work and swap ideas with fellow car buffs," said Karen M. Hegedus, recreation superintendent. "And, the general public gets to see amazing vehicles – from vintage trucks to hot rods to custom motorcycles."

Local Officials Support LowPro’s Concern’s over Sewer Interceptor

Lower Providence and the Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer authority are reportedly to be at odds over a proposed middle sewer interceptor project in the township.

According to a Times Herald article, The Lower Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer Authority , along with two politicians. The July 30 meeting was an informational meeting, asking perspectives over the regional sewer authority’s proposal of a middle sewer interceptor, which, according to the article, Lower Providence officials and residents oppose. The article reports that Lower Providence Township supervisor Richard Gestrich said, according to the township’s solicitor, Mike Sheridan, who attended the meeting, state Senator John Rafferty (R-44) and state Representative Mike Vereb (R-150), supported the Lower Providence position on the matter. Last Chance: Catch the Lower Providence Firemen's Fair

Neighboring firemen host annual fair through June 16.

Area residents still have a chance to head into Lower Providence Township, along Ridge Pike to catch the 2012 Firemen's Festival. Running on Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and again on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to the Lower Providence Fire Department's Website, the fair will still offer ONE more chance at the wristband discounts. Wristband coupons (marking the $25 wristband down to $20) will be accepted on Saturday, from open to close. The wristbands are good on all rides except for "Speed" which requires a unique ticket. Second Bank Robber Suspect Captured

Kevin Gilchrist was wanted in connection with three recent central Montgomery County bank robberies. His alleged accomplice was arrested last week.

Kevin Gilchrist, who was wanted by police in connection with three recent bank robberies in Worcester and Lower Providence townships, was arrested Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police said late Wednesday morning. Lower Providence Township Police said they apprehended Gilchrist, 38, in cooperation with the state police at the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia. Gilchrist was "taken into custody without incident," police said. Gilchrist's alleged accomplice, David Sprintz, was arrested at his South Philadelphia home last Thursday in connection with the May 15, May 21, and June 7 robberies.
