Mike Piazza to Hold Book Signing in Collegeville

The famed catcher, born in Norristown, will promote his new book, 'Long Shot,' at the Towne Book Center on Feb. 13.

Mike Piazza will sign copies of his new book, “Long Shot,” at Towne Book Center in Collegeville on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The Norristown-born, Phoenixville-bred catcher’s new autobiography tells his story of being selected in the 1988 baseball draft as a 62nd round “courtesy pick,” end eventually becoming the greatest-hitting catcher in the history of baseball. In the book, Piazza discusses his local upbringing, his 2000 World Series with the Yankees, the steroid controversy, gay rumors, and the thrill of hitting the game-winning homerun on Sept. 21 2001, the first game in New York after Sept. 11, 2001, according to the book description. Seem's Mike is coming around this area more and more often. Back in his playing days he actually denied being form Phoenixville (see the "born in Norristown" comment above) but he appears to be coming back quite a bit now.
