Actor Tony Danza visited Ursinus College to reflect on his year teaching in Philadelphia, the resulting book, and to share own ideas for education reform.
When you've starred in sitcoms, talk shows, stage and film, the obvious next career step is…teaching high school in Philadelphia? For "Who's the Boss?" star Tony Danza, it was. Danza spent 2009 teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, and has written a book about it - "I'd Like to Apologize To Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High." Danza was brought to Ursinus College by the Towne Book Center in Collegeville to meet with fans and sign books. "I was sixty, got fired, I was feeling pretty crummy," Danza said, referencing his "Tony Danza Show," which was canceled in 2006. Towne Book Center held a signing for Danza's newest book, "I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had," at Ursinus College's Bomberger Hall.
Television, film and stage star Tony Danza visited Ursinus College on Sept. 15 as part of a book tour for his new offering, "I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had." Towne Book Center coordinated the event, which drew roughly 200 Danza fans to Bomberger Hall. Danza, whose book chronicles his time spent teaching in Philadelphia's Northeast High School, regaled the audience with his thoughts on public education, the youth of today, and anecdotes from the classroom. The "Who's the Boss?" actor will promote his new book on Sept. 15, which chronicles his year teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia.
Actor Tony Danza will visit the Bomberger Auditorium at Ursinus College on Sept. 15 to promote his new book, "I Would Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High." The signing, held by Towne Book Center in Collegeville, will begin at 6:30 and costs $30 - admission price includes an autographed copy of the book. Danza, of "Who's the Boss?" and "Taxi" fame, spent 2009 teaching 10th grade at Northeast High School in Philadelphia - the school district's largest school. The resulting book highlights his trials and tribulations as at teacher, and also features many portraits of both students and teachers.
