Don't count the county commissioner out just yet.
As Patch has previously reported, Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor is still undecided on whether to run or not in the 2014 Pennsylvania governor race. Castor's run against current Republican Gov. Tom Corbett once before, and it is unclear if he'll make a run in the coming year's primary. Multiple media outlets reporting Schwartz has filed to run in 2014 on Monday.
We've been hearing the rumors for months, but it is finally official. U.S. Rep. Alyson Schwartz filed paperwork today to run for governor in 2014. According to philly.com, Schwartz said she hopes to beat out current Gov. Tom Corbett and his “failed leadership” that "has crippled the Pennsylvania economy in a competitive world." “He’s just missing in action most of the time,” Schwartz, of Montgomery County, said in an interview with philly.com. A new website has many guessing at Bruce Castor's intent come the 2014 Pennsylvania governor race.
He's got a spiffy new site, and it surely doesn't seem to just be about Montgomery County. Current Republican Minority Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor has launched a new website, brucecastor.com, and from its logo of the state of Pennsylvania to its contents encompassing every topic from his biography to a donation contribution page, the site has many guessing it may be one of the first steps toward a candidacy in the 2014 governor race. Two politicians from the county may face-off in a race for the state's seat.
Of course, nothing is set in stone just yet, but with phrases like "80 percent sure" and "pragmatism and practicality" being floated around, it is possible that Montgomery County may be home to a hot race in the 2014 Pennsylvania governor's race. Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor could challenge Pa. Governor Tom Corbett in 2014, PoliticsPA reports. The 51-year-old former district attorney and Lower Salford resident is the minority Republican on the county's 3-person executive and legislative board, alongside Democrats Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards. Castor told the political news website that he believes Corbett is "vulnerable" to a reelection challenge. Corbett and Castor have a storied history, including a 2004 Republican primary race for Attorney General. Jack, I said Castor finished 3rd out of four people running and all the stats you provided did is prove me correct. In fact in shows he barely beat the other Republican. As I sadi before, state law requires at least one person from the majority party on the Commission which is the only reason he still has a job.
