Still Time to Get the Flu Shot for Those in Schwenksville, Spring Mount, Skippack

While area pharmacies run short, the North Penn VNA serves communities in Perkiomen Valley.

As the nation's pharmacies start to run short on the proper flu vaccine, those in the Perkiomen Valley have hope. According to an article in the Lansdale Reporter, the North Penn Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) has a bountiful supply of the vaccine and is offering them to the public. The zip codes of Schwenksville, Skippack and Spring Mount are serviced by the North Penn VNA. "According to VNA spokesperson Theresa Humphreys, as of Wednesday morning the VNA still had 'several hundred flu shots available for the community,'" said the article. Free Flu Shots Available

The county health department is providing free immunizations in Norristown, Pottstown, and Willow Grove.

Haven't gotten that flu shot yet? Fret not – the Montgomery County Health Department can get your T-cells and B-cells buzzing to protect you against this season's influenza strains. And they'll do it for free. Though young children and the elderly are most at risk, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone six months or older get a flu shot. According to the health department, seasonal influenza activity peaks between January and March. It takes about one to two weeks to build immunity after receiving the seasonal influenza vaccine, so those who haven't received the vaccine are encouraged to do so through February. Last Chance: Free County Flu Shot Tomorrow

A free clinic will be held at the Sunnybrook Ballroom in Lower Pottsgrove.

If you haven't yet gotten your immunization for this winter's flu season, Friday is your last chance to do it for free. The Montgomery County Health Department will hold a free flu clinic from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Sunnybrook Ballroom in Lower Pottsgrove, just off E. High Street (Ridge Pike) near Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Though young children and the elderly are most at risk, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone six months or older get a flu shot. Residents who are Medicare eligible should bring their Medicare card. If you are allergic to eggs or have previously had an adverse reaction to a flu vaccine, consult with your physician before attending tomorrow's clinic.
