What Do You Say with Your Vote?

Patch caught up with a few voters post-ballot casting.

Although turnout for local races is notoriously weak -- unofficial county results estimate one-third of registered Montco voters went to the polls -- residents had strong opinions they voiced at the polls. While some people wanted new blood among their representatives, or improved fiscal conservatism, three voters in Trappe (who wanted to remain anonymous) said they supported pro-life candidates.

The founding fathers of our nation believed that human rights come from God and not from government. By voting pro-life we are affirming God as our Creator and recognizing that our country needs to return to the values upon which it was founded.   more ›

Your comment is true regarding the solitation of input, etc. However, why do you think the radification of the administrations contract was rushed through? So, given that there were little if any concessions there, the children are the ones who are left to bear the burden.   more ›

Update: Verbal Confrontation Reported at Skippack Poll

Police: Schwenksville man will be cited for harassment and disorderly conduct

Greggory Rank, 50, of Schwenksville, will be cited for harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly engaged in a verbal confronation at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Skippack, Nov. 8, police said. According to a witness, Rank pulled up to the polling place and began yelling at some of the people outside the church. At least one person was a Republican committeeman. Richard Kratz: 'Watch the Dollars' and 'Look Out for the Taxpayers'

Perkiomen Township Supervisor lists his priorities and concerns as he remains unopposed in today's election.

Perkiomen Township Supervisor Richard Kratz has lived in the township for the past 52 years, and this past May marked his 31st year on the board. He is running unopposed in tomorrow’s election. Kratz noted that things are changing, and “it’s a different world from even 1980,” when he became a township supervisor. “My thing is to watch the dollars and look out for the taxpayers,” he said, predicting that economic times will get even tougher. When asked about the biggest issues facing Perkiomen, Kratz says he is concerned about municipalities possibly paying fees for Pennsylvania State Police protection, and the rising cost of medical insurance for township employees. Perkiomen’s own police department was disbanded in the early ‘80s, and …

Gerry Barnefiher: It's Satisfying 'Helping to Make a Difference'

School board member discusses time with district as Election Day nears.

On qualifications for a board seat I have served on the board for the past three years.  In that time I have been on many committees and have seen from many perspectives what a great school district PV truly is.  I have also seen areas where we can improve. I think because of my business background I can add value to the district in many ways as we struggle to educate our students to be future leaders. Technology is becoming an increasingly important asset within education as a learning tool and an effective instrument to reduce costs. With my technology background I feel I have a good foundation to continue to assist in providing direction and input to the district. Additionally having four students in the district keeps me in touch with …

You voted for 3.5 percent salary increases for each of the next two years. Some business background you must have! Let's hope your not in charge of finance at the business you work at. I guess the 'shared solution' only involves the taxpayers sharing more of their money with the teacher's union. But in his defense, the other incumbents are much worse than Gerry. Randy Bennett in particular is in …   more ›
