Six Skippack Dogs are Looking for Loving Homes

The veterinary center shared photos of dogs looking for homes.

  The Skippack Animal Hospital shared six dogs looking for “forever homes” on Tuesday. The following dogs were born in December of 2012: Biggie, a male lab mix Journey, a female hound mix Lil’ Wayne, a male lab mix Snoop Dog, a male lab mix Tripp, a male hound mix Harley’s Haven brought the dogs to the animal hospital. “Harley's Haven is a small rescue with a big mission: to save as many homeless dogs as possible,” says the group’s Facebook page. “Every day so many dogs are put to sleep, even just in the city of Philadelphia, and every dog that we can find a wonderful home for is one less that will end up in the shelter. Help us save homeless dogs and ADOPT!” Sunny, a neutered male Shar Pei, was born in July of 2012 and is also available …

Foreclosure Dogs

A very sad unexpected victim of the recent housing and economic downturn are pets.  According to a report by MSNBC, the number of dogs left at shelters by loving owners has rose 25 fold in the last few years.  “Their pet is the last thing someone wants to give up,” said a spokesman for the Humane Society. But difficult financial times and people losing their homes has forced many pet owners to give up their animals as the owners move into apartments or with family.  And as financial aid and donations to animal shelters has dropped, the shelters are feeling the pinch. What can you do?  If you are thinking about getting a dog or a cat, consider visiting a local shelter.  Mixed breeds do make wonderful pets, but for anyone seeking a pure bred…
