A young black bear was caught in Blue Bell on Saturday and will be released back into the wild on Sunday.
A black bear, originally spotted by residents in Franconia Township, was caught on Saturday night in Blue Bell, according to NBC 10. NBC 10 reported that the Pennsylvania Game Commission said the bear is a young male and was captured once before and released into Schyulkill County, but has made it was back to Montgomery County. “The bear has been tranquilized and will be released into the wild on Sunday,” said the NBC 10 report. Last week, Lower Frederick residents reported seeing a bear around the township, according to an e-mail to Perkiomen Valley Patch. The message stated that one person saw a bear coming up from the Perkiomen Creek to Colonial Drive, and another person claimed to have seen a bear around Salford Station Road. A comment…

Man flown for treatment
A man was unconscious but breathing following a motorcycle crash by Skippack Pike and Haldeman Road, Perkiomen Township, around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, May 19. According to early reports, the man's front motorcycle tire locked and he lost control of the bike. He was unconscious but breathing at the scene, reports indicate. The severity of his injuries are unknown; he was flown from Central Perkiomen Valley Park. Members from Perkiomen, Schwenksville and Skippack fire companies assisted with the incident. Pennsylvania State Police also responded to the scene. Patch will publish more information as it becomes available.

Active warrants in at least two states
Collegeville Police Officer Andrew Sohl responded to a report of a suspicious male at Wawa. The shift manager called police after approaching a man who who had been walking around the store "holding something under his sleeve," the report states. The man reportedly became argumentative. He had left the store by the time Sohl and Officer Cubbler arrived, so they began to check the area. Around 2 a.m., Sohl saw a man dressed in black clothes and a black knit hat exiting from the front yard of 23 E. Fourth Ave., the report states. At the District Court of Judge Andrea Duffy Wednesday morning, 12 of the 32 suspects arrested May 8 in connection with a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking ring waived all charges against them to a July 5 arraignment in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. Limerick Police Department recognizes area resident for tip that led to arrests
Chief William Albany of the Limerick Police Department recognized Collegeville resident Ken Leflar at Tuesday night's Board of Supervisor's meeting, presenting him with a Citizen's Commendation. Leflar called the police in February 2012 to report two suspicious men buying items with multiple credit cards at the Sunoco convenience store on Ridge Pike. Leflar had noticed the same two men earlier in the evening, also purchasing items with multiple cards, at a Wawa store in Collegeville. When Limerick officers stopped the two men, they found fraudulent cards, cigarettes and gift cards in the car. They were arrested and charged with fraud. A local man was Medvaced to Hahnemann University Hospital after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a silver Honda sedan on Gravel Pike/Route 29 in Perkiomen Township on Sunday evening, May 13, said Pennsylvania State Trooper Derik Frymire. The Honda's driver, Richard Broder of Skippack, was attempting to turn left onto Route 29 from Harrison Avenue when two motorcycles came from over the hill of the road, and the motorcycle in the lead crashed into the driver's side of the Honda, Frymire said. According to early, unofficial reports, two skydivers were "taken up by the wind" as they were coming in for landings, and then fell. Marriott did not know the extent of the injuries. One person was Medevaced from the scene, and the other was taken by ground, he said. The airport's runway was briefly shut down as emergency crews worked at the scene. The Keystone Skydive Center operates at Perkiomen Valley Airport. Co-Owner Marc Nadeau declined to comment or speculate on the situation, saying he was still reviewing witness accounts. Lower Providence Township released the following information: A lubricant leaking from a tractor trailer caused unsafe road conditions Friday morning, forcing the closure of all four lanes of Egypt Road in Upper Providence Township. Lower Providence Township Fire Marshal Charles A. DeFrangesco observed the liquid leaking out of the trailer compartment of the vehicle at approximately 9:16 a.m. as it traveled south on Park Avenue near Eagleville Road. DeFrangesco conducted a traffic stop on Egypt Road at New Mill Road in Upper Providence Township.
