Schwenksville Girl Raises Money For Victims of Sexual Abuse

In the wake of the Sandusky scandal, 12-year-old Kelsey Hirsch has decided to raise money for the Rape Abuse Incest National Network.

At this time of year, the majority of children are concerned with the best way to spend their summer vacation, but for 12-year-old Kelsey Hirsch, of Schwenksville, raising funds for the victims of sexual abuse is a better use of her time.

According to a report by Brad Segall with CBS Philadelphia, Hirsch became inspired to raise funds for the Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN) following a discussion with her parents -- both of whom are -- about the . Since that conversation, the soon-to-be teen has been selling blue and white wristbands, which read "Hope-Courage-Strength."

"It feels really good to help other people," said Hirsh, in the CBS Philadelphia report. "I think that it's going to help people because it's going to help prevent people from abusing other people."

Though her initial goal was to raise $10,000 for RAINN, she's already surpassed that amount, and now she's closing in on $15,000, according to CBS3.
