A single mother of four recently diagnosed with cancer needs the community's help, according to Terrie Stagliano.

Collegeville Borough Council President Terrie Stagliano is organizing a holiday collection for a Lower Providence resident who works in Collegeville Borough and was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Stagliano, who did not name the resident, but said she is a single mother of four who was recently diagnosed with cancer and will undergo chemo and radiation treatments, which may keep her away from work.

Stagliano is asking for anything to help the woman and her children.

“Money, gift cards to any grocery store, Christmas gifts for her children, anything!” Stagliano said.  “A $5 grocery gift card would go a long way and is greatly appreciated!”

“The resident needs food, heating oil and anything else a struggling mom could use to help her and her children,” said Stagliano in an e-mail sent to the community. “She keeps her thermostat set at 60 degrees and uses space heaters. A VERY generous colleague of mine donated a full tank of heating oil, but the winter is long and she could use more.”
