Perk Valley Girls Travel Basketball Win Bulldog Holiday Challenge

The team defeated Lebanon Valley 33-24.

The Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball 8th Grade Girls Travel Team won the Bulldog Holiday Challenge in Allentown, PA on December 27-30th.  In the championship, Perkiomen Valley defeated Lebanon Valley, 33-25 in the final.  

“The tournament showcases some of the finest talent in the Pennsylvania region,” commented Mike Petruny, Executive Director of the Tournament. “Congratulations to our champions for demonstrating their skill and character on the court.”

During the tourney, Perkiomen Valley went undefeated at 5-0 with victories against top caliber programs including Phillipsburg, In The Zone Athletics, St. John Vianney and the Lehigh Valley Heat in Allentown at Cedar Crest College and St. John Vianney Regional School.

“I am proud of our young student athletes for their hard work and dedication,” said Perkiomen Valley Head Coach Tom Blomstrom.  “It is an honor to compete with great programs in the state.”

The team was led in the tourney by forward Alex Blomstrom with 54 points.  Point guard Kylie Webb chipped in 30 points, followed by center Megan Jonassen (27) and power forward Jessie Oltman (25).

The Perkiomen Valley team had previously won titles at the 2012 Fetterman Memorial Classic in Cooperstown, NY, the 2012 Carlisle Thunder Tournament in Carlisle, PA and the 2011 Love and Basketball Tournament held in King of Prussia, PA. Earlier in 2013, the team won the Silver Medal in the March Madness Classic in Salisbury, MD.
