PVSD Remembers Capt. Samuel Schweigert

The Perkiomen Valley School Board member, who passed away Dec. 14, served the school district for almost 20 years.

 

Perkiomen Valley School Board Member Capt. Samuel Schweigert passed away on Dec. 14 at the age of 88, after serving the school district for nearly 20 years.

“We are saddened to lose such a dedicated and committed board member, who placed a high value on public education and revered the country in which we live," said a message from the Perkiomen Valley School District.

In addition to Schweigert’s involvement in the School Board, he also served on the Schwenksville Borough Authority and Council, and the Schwenksville Library Board.  He was also a member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America and the Masonic Lodge.

Schweigert joined the Merchant Maries in 1943 and spent 46 years traveling the world before settling in Schwenksville.

Due to an accident that occurred while Schweigert was in high school, he never graduated. In 2001, the Perkiomen Valley School District presented Schweigert with an honorary diploma.
