PVSD: New Crossing Guard in Skippack, Drive Safely
Additional Crossing Guard added at Mount Airy and Heckler Roads in Skippack Township
Editor's Note: This is a press release from the Perkiomen Valley School District.
With the first day of school just one day away, the Perkiomen Valley School District is reminding area drivers to commute with caution during school arrival and dismissal times, particularly in the area of Skippack Elementary School, where some students will be walking to school for the first time.
With the addition of a crossing guard at Mount Airy and Heckler Roads, approximately 127 Skippack Elementary School students can now safely walk to school from the neighborhoods of Monroe Court, Wincrest Estates, Harmony Towne Woods and Fairlawn Court.

· Seeking the help of state police to patrol the area during school arrival/dismissal times
· Assigning staff members to supervise the walkway from Heckler Road up to the school during arrival/dismissal times
The school district encourages drivers who may be passing through the area to observe the 15 mile-per-hour speed limit during arrival/dismissal times and to be aware of the additional foot traffic coming into the school this year. The school day begins for elementary schools at 8:40 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m.
The elimination of buses serving the aforementioned neighborhoods in Skippack will allow the district to save approximately $100,000 in transportation costs this year.
Skippack Elementary School is located at 4081 Heckler Road in Skippack.
