Perkiomen Valley High School Junior Kayla M. Buddy, 17, lost her battle with cystic fibrosis on Jan. 30 at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania.
Buddy was a member of the PVHS Key Club, a volunteer organization, and she was very artistic, according to her obituary on Legacy.com.
Buddy is survived by her father and mother, John and Christine, brother Sean and sister Julianna.
Cystic Fibrosis is a chronic, progressive disease of the body’ mucus glands, that primarily affects the respiratory and digestive systems in children and young adults, according to genomics.energy.gov.
A Facebook page in Buddy’s honor “Rest In Peace Kayla Buddy,” was created earlier this month for family and friends to share messages and photos.
“As the mom of a 12-yeard-old girl with CF (who also lives in Collegeville), my heard breaks for you and your family,” one mother posted on the page.
“I will always remember you as a little girl in our Brownie Troop,” another friend said.
The Facebook Page itself left messages for Buddy.
“I hope you had fun with us over the years, Kayla,” the page said “Hope we never let you get bored.”
Buddy’s funeral mass was held this week at St. Eleanor Church in Collegeville.
In lieu of flowers, the family donations are being made in Kayla’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, STE 200, Bethesda, Md., 20814.
