Panthers Tear Up The Warriors on Their Home Turf

Cowbells, cheers and whistles could be heard from Warrior Field on Monday, as the Pope John Paul II Panthers took on the Methacton Warriors.

Despite Methacton's efforts, the Panthers netted victory, 43 to 22.

"They played awesome," said head coach Jim Bildstein. "The group of sophomores that we have is a very special group, and if they stay together, and they work hard over the next few years, they can go on to do great things. Mix that with our juniors, and it's a nice group."

The first and second quarters belonged to PJPII, with the Panthers scoring 29 points and Methacton scoring only 14. The Warriors refused to give up, living up to their name and fighting for their team the whole game.

PJPII fumbled the ball with 2:15 left in the second quarter, and, once recovered by the Warriors, this gave them the chance to gain some yards. That was taken by the Panthers, however, when they intercepted the ball on the Warriors' second down. Another critical interception made by PJPII stole a touchdown from the Warriors.

Bildstein has a great outlook on the season.

"We are one-to-one right now," said Bildstein. "We only have 15 bodies, but they all play extremely hard, and the future is really bright for them."
