New Hires, Settlement on Agenda at Perkiomen Valley School Board Work Session

Some actions will be taken at business meeting next week.

Notes from the Perkiomen Valley School Board work session:

• The board approved appointing Barbara Launi as the Supervisor of Teaching and Learning. This is a new position, replacing the Assistant to the Superintendent position that was when Barbara Russell became the assistant superintendent.

According to the agenda, Launi will receive an annual salary of $105,800, prorated, with benefits; she will start on or before Nov. 7.

• The board approved a settlement between the district and Mallie, Falconiero LLP, awarding Perkiomen Valley School District $50,000.


• The board and meeting attendees watched a presentation on refinancing general obligation bonds. The board will take action on authorizing admininstration to work with Public Financial Management and Fox Rothschild LLP for the purpose of refunding a portion of the bond. The district’s savings will be approximately $200,000.

• The board approved leaves of absence and hires; next week they will take action on special education contracts, coaches and department chairs.
