Evergreen Chorus Celebrates B101 Win

Prizes include thousands of dollars for the music program, a chance to perform at the Kimmel Center

Fifth Grade Chorus basked in the glow of their as they performed "Blitzen's Boogie" -- their contest entry -- for their fellow students.

The chorus first sang for their cheering, waving classmates, and then had the assembled students and teachers join them in the holiday tune.

The local songbirds emerged victorious after family, friends and other community members voted them into the finals, and then against two other schools that won their respective competitions.

Evergreen will receive $5,000 for the music program and will get to perform with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at the Kimmel Center.

However, due to the Kimmel Center's stage constraints, only 50 students of the 90 chorus members will be able to perform this Wednesday, Dec. 14. Those students, who have parental permission to perform, will be selected through a drawing. After communicating with the radio station, it was decided that the remaining 40 students will perform on the B101 morning show at 7 on Dec. 19.
The students whooped and clapped with delight as they heard the news.
