Living in Openness

Have you ever felt trapped in seeking to fulfill an intention? Sometimes when a specific intention is held in awareness and you do not see results in fulfilling that intention, it is possible to fall into a loop of anxiety and frustration. You intention is no longer providing for you what it was originally made for. In times like these, it can be very beneficial to just forget about it! For all of the times that having an intention is helpful, there are just as many times when it is appropriate to forget about any specific intention- to remain in a state of pure openness and to just expect the best.

There is something so special about living in a state of openness, where anything is possible. It is borne from a cultivated trust in yourself and the bigger picture-the universe. When you remain in a state of openness, you expect nothing yet you receive everything! The smallest events turn into life-changing miracles. Try this exercise tomorrow morning when you wake up to shift your mindset into a place of pure openness to possibility:

Upon awakening from the night’s rest, soften your gaze and take a gentle cleansing breath- no expectation, thoughts, or worries exist in this moment. A breath for a breath is the practice here- not a breath for a thought, or a breath for a worry, or for anything else. Only a breath for a breath. When you take your first step out of bed, feel the earth under your feet. Become aware of the series of spontaneous miracles that had to occur just for you to be here in this moment. Let your willingness to remain open, without any expectations or specific intentions, transfer through your feet into the earth in a moment of trust and surrender. As you continue your morning routine, notice when you expect even the littlest thing to go a particular way, thereby exiting your state of openness to possibility. Instead, take a breath for a breath- trust and surrender your need for things to turn out a specific way and open yourself up to the realm of possibility. Continue this practice for the rest of the day without any expectations. If you get caught up in this specific practice of remaining open, check in with yourself! This is not something you have to try to do! The moment of openness is always right there for you- you just need to step fully into it and allow it to unfold. Breathe just to breathe and live just to live, just for today. Love and blessings!
