Schwenksville Passes Budget with No Tax Increase

The general fund budget increased 8.7 percent fro 2012, covered by various revenues.

 

The Schwenksville Borough Council passed a budget with no tax increase at its Dec. 13 meeting.

The balanced all funds budget has revenues and expenditures totaling $813,808, $435,245 of which is budgeted for the general fund - and increase of 8.7 percent over the 2012 budget.

The general fund increase is due mainly to increased earned income taxes, transfer of properties, and increased franchise fees from Verizon and Comcast.

Roughly nine percent of the general budget fund is earmarked for capital projects.

For a Schwenksville taxpayer, 79 percent of real estate tax dollars go to the Perkiomen Valley School District, nine percent to Montgomery County, and 12 percent to the local municipality

Of that nine percent, 11 percent goes directly to the borough, .27 percent to the library, and .98 percent to fire services.
