LETTER: Monco Commissioners Trying to Develop Parkhouse Property

An Upper Providence Township supervisors is urging residents to attend a Wednesday meeting to object.

On 11-8-2013, I was contacted by one of the Township Supervisors regarding the sale of the Parkhouse Nursing Home. I was told Montgomery County Officials had attended the Supervisors Meeting last Monday and asked for a waiver from the Supervisors so they could subdivide the Parkhouse Property without having to go through the proper channels.

This land was and is deemed open space and is NOT supposed to be subdivided and built on. This open space was voted on by the same people that are now trying to be sneaky and go under our noses to sell it. They are wasting YOUR tax dollars to get a lawyer to sue the township to reverse their decision to make a profit.

This request was denied and they were advised they would have to proceed by going through the proper steps, with the first step this coming Wednesday, at the Planning Commission meeting.

The supervisor who contacted me has asked for maximum attendance from the neighbors adjacent to the Parkhouse property. The Montgomery County Official who attended the Supervisors Meeting last Monday even used a veiled threat of possible litigation (suing the township in an attempt to get what they want) and even told the Supervisors that he really did not need to be at the meeting to ask for the waiver, that they could just go to court.  Montgomery County Commissioners are not looking out for our interests. They are attempting to sell the Parkhouse Property to MidAtlantic Health Systems for $39 million and they are attempting to expedite the sale by the end of the year. Montco needs this money due to the recent sale of the studio complex, which was supposed to be built at Logan Square in Norristown. This parcel of land was sold at auction for $8,000, leaving the county in a $24 million dollar hole.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY OFFICIALS WERE ATTEMPTING TO GET THIS DONE WITHOUT INPUT BY ITS CITIZENS.

LETS KEEP OUR HOMES QUIET AND FREE FROM DEVELOPMENT.
