Corbett Compares Same-Sex Marriage to Incest

Gov. Tom Corbett stirred controversy with a televised remark about same-sex marriage.

Written by Susan Koomar

Gov. Tom Corbett compared same-sex marriage to a union between a brother and sister during a TV interview on Friday.

Corbett later apologized for the comment, saying it was intended to compare same-sex marriage to other illegal unions such as sibling marriage.

Still. Corbett's remarks drew criticism from Democrats and gay rights activists.

Last week, state Rep. Brian Sims (D-Phila), who is openly gay, and state Rep. Steve McCarter (D-Montco) introduced a bill to legalize gay marriage in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania's ban on same-sex marriage is being challenged in state and federal courts.

Do you think Corbett's analogy was inappropriate? Will his opposition to gay marriage make it harder for him to get re-elected? Tell us in the comments section below.
