Our 16th President was born on this day in 1809.

 

Though no longer celebrated as a day off from school and work, today marks the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States.

Lincoln was born 204 years ago on a farm in Kentucky, where he had to struggle to learn, and to make a living, before becoming President in 1861.

While he delivered one of the best-known presidential speeches, the Gettysburg Address, only two hours away from our area, Lincoln also a has vast number of quotes attributed to him.
