Woman Taken to Hospital Following One-Car Crash in Trappe

Wire down; at least one home without power

A reported diabetic woman was suffering a medical emergency when she crashed into a utility pole on Main Street in Trappe on Sunday, Nov. 27, around 7:30 p.m., according to authorities at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the woman drive erratically for about two miles down Main Street -- swerving, running red lights -- before hitting the pole and pulling down the wire, said Trooper Stephen Kamnik.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was initially in shock and unresponsive at the scene, Kamnik said, but she was conscious in the ambulance. transported her to Reading Hospital, Kamnik said.

At least one house lost power due to the crash; PECO will be responding to the scene. No other vehicles were impacted by the accident.

Traffic at West Seventh Avenue was directed around the scene; Main Street traffic was diverted at West Fifth Avenue.
