Upper Prov Building Slated for Demolition Destroyed in Fire

The building, located on Egypt Road, was scheduled for demolition.

A building slated for demolition was destroyed in a fire on Sunday afternoon, according to Black Rock Fire Company.

The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. at the corner of Egypt Road and Station Avenue, in a vacant two-story garage building.

Several area fire companies spent less than 30 minutes getting the fire under control; emergency services personnel were on the scene until 10:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported in the fire; the cause is under investigation by the Upper Providence Fire Marshal’s Office.

Phoenixville, Lower Providence, Jefferson, Collegeville, and Valley Forge Fire Companies were on hand.

According to the Pottstown Mercury, the building was the last of several on the corner that were to be knocked down.
