Two Hunters Rescued From Perkiomen Creek

Local fire companies rescued the two men around noon Monday.

Three local fire companies worked to rescue two hunters who were stranded on an island of the Perkiomen Creek.

Perkiomen, Collegeville and Skippack fire companies responded to a call at 11:21 a water rescue on the Perkiomen Creek near Mountain Top Drive, where two hunters were found trapped on an island in the middle of the creek near the PECO substation on Gravel Pike, according to Collegeville Fire Co.

Two hunters crossed the dam and entered the island for hunting before 6 a.m.;  the creek then rose to a level that did not permit the subjects to return to land, after the warmer weather Monday morning melted snow and the heavy downpours that occurred.
