Employees at the Wells Fargo branch in East Greenville contacted the Pennsylvania State Police after a suspicious woman left a package in the bank on the afternoon of Oct. 11.
According to a State Police news release, a woman entered the bank around 4:30 and was exhibiting odd behavior, which alarmed employees.
When the woman left a backpack inside of the bank, and exited abruptly, employees contacted the police to report the woman and the package.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department Bomb Disposal Unit was requested, neighboring businesses were evacuated as ongoing.
It was found that the backpack did not pose a threat, and the woman - who has been identified by police - will likely not face charges. However, it is an ongoing investigation.
The Upper Perkiomen Police District, Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance, and the East Greenville Fire Co. and Fire Police assisted the State Police on the scene.
