Shots Fired During Police Call in Green Lane

Section of Sumneytown Pike closed for investigation Wednesday night after a neighbor allegedly fired a gun when police arrived to a domestic dispute.

A man is in custody after shots were reportedly fired on Wednesday evening when a Marlborough Township police officer responded to the scene of a domestic dispute in Green Lane.

The incident took place at about 6:45 p.m. on the Main Street section of Sumneytown Pike in the borough. No injuries were reported.

Marlborough Police Chief Darren Morgan said police originally responded to a domestic call, but a neighbor fired a gun into the ground as the police officer arrived, according to the Morning Call http://bit.ly/VkQMgy.

The woman involved in the domestic dispute went to the neighbor's house to call the police, the article said. Morgan did not know why the neighbor fired the gun, but he is in custody and charges are pending.

About 30 minutes after the incident, a county-wide emergency radio broadcast was issued for a white Mazda 6 that was last seen headed westbound on Sumneytown Pike from the scene.

A section of Sumneytown Pike in Green Lane was partially closed for an investigation Wednesday night. One lane of traffic was able to get through the crime scene area. Police could be seen in the driveway of a residence along Sumneytown Pike near Perkiomenville Road. The property was cordoned off with crime scene tape. A sign indicating that the property is for sale was visible.

A representative from the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety said that county detectives were assisting with the investigation at the scene. Additional units responding to the call include the Marlborough and Upper Perkiomen Police Departments, the Pennsylvania State Police and fire police from the Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Company.

Roy.. You sound like a racist.. Who said anything about someone from Philly.. It's people like you that give the "neighborhood" a bad name!! I work and have several friends in Green Lane, I am thankful that no one was injured!!

Ok, so... is the person in custody the guy who fired at the officer?
MJ January 10, 2013 at 05:02 AM
Damn deer. They should not be allowed to have guns.

An officer from the Marlborough Police Department told me that they had a "person of interest" in custody, but would not elaborate. We also bounced a name off of them (that we heard over the radio), but again, they would not comment. We're monitoring the incident, and we'll update the story as soon as more information becomes available.

Roy, It's a shame you are clueless. How do you know that these people that are involved are from philly? On what grounds are you making that assessment? Let me guess, because there was a gun involved??? Its Ashame that your parents kept you so sheltered.

Ken, No, I was coming south and it was before the one lane area. I had to go around it to the right onto the shoulder a little and then about 5 car lengths up was the first police car and the start of the one lane area. I don't know but it was there.

You can always count on Roy Martin to get people riled up. He makes the same comment for every Patch story just to get people mad.

Yes, I have wondered that, Paula.
Katie January 10, 2013 at 05:26 PM
That's all Roy ever comments about. How would he even know where they are from? He should just be banned from posting.
Katie January 10, 2013 at 05:28 PM
Do you ever have anything else to say? Not everyone who commits a crime is from Philly!
John Scioli January 10, 2013 at 05:43 PM
I personally love that Roy Martin makes the same comment. I don't care where hes from I like the comedic wit he brings .
Katie January 10, 2013 at 05:59 PM
It's only funny because he sounds like an idiot. I'm not sure there is any wit involved.

Mr. Martin, I'm from Philly. If you'd like to talk about this, I'd be glad to stuff a kerosene-soaked rag into your mouth so we can have a pleasant conversation.
Roy Martin January 10, 2013 at 08:20 PM
I can see Apple Orange, you're a fine example of when I say "There Goes The Neighborhood". Things down at K&A or Broad and Erie, too much for you?
brian January 10, 2013 at 09:36 PM
Some a-hole hit a deer in front of my house, and drove away leaving it for everyone to hit, Myself and a neighbor removed it so we did not have more issues. Unrelated from the shooting.

a lot of people are moving here from Philly and since the expansion move and more gun related crimes as well as robberies have occurred... do not hide the facts from yourself because you were sheltered in a different way.
