Rabid Raccoon Reported in Perkiomenville

If any residents, or their pets, have had contact with the raccoon, they should call the Montgomery County Health Department.


A raccoon found on the 900 block of Kulp Road in Perkiomenville on Thursday was confirmed positive for rabies, according to the Montgomery County Health Department.

"Anyone that has been bitten, scratched or had saliva expose by a raccoon must receive treatment to prevent this fatal disease," according to the heath department. "If you, someone in your household, or any of your pets have possibly had contact with a raccoon or any other stray or wild animal, immediately call the Montgomery County Health Department, Division of Communicable Disease Control at (610) 278-5117.
