One Reported Victim in Friday Shootings in Norristown

Two separate incidents of shots fired were reported in Norristown today and at least one victim is currently in unstable condition at an area hospital.

Details are slim, but at least two reports of shots fired in two different neighborhoods in Norristown have been publicized and at least one victim is reportedly in a hospital being treated for wounds.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, The Times Herald reported via Twitter that shots were heard in the 200 block of East Elm Street and police were on the look out for two suspects described as black males wearing Army fatigues. Thirty minutes later, the Herald reported authorities were searching for the suspects, but named East Oak Street as the location of the shooting.

At approximately 4:51 p.m., the Herald reported on Twitter another shooting, this time in the area of West Airy Street.

Scanner reports indicate that the shooting occurred in the area of West Airy and Hamilton streets and at least one gunshot victim may have been a result of that incident.

The victim was reportedly dropped off at an area hospital in a dark grey Hyundai Sonata, but the driver did not identify him or herself and left the scene. The victim is reportedly in unstable condition and is being medevaced to another hospital for treatment.

It is unclear if the two shooting incidents are related. Norristown Patch has been unable to contact police for additional information.

NPD is pretty good about cooperating with me. They were tied up with this investigation last night and I wasn't actually in town, which is why the info is a bit light. I'll be stopping by the station today to see if I can get an update.

My opinion is DRUGS are the cause and the evil in this country. Not only is there an epidemic here in this country, but all over the world. And, we do need tighter gun control so these people can't get guns.

At the turn of the century (1900) it was perfectly legal to smoke opium in the U.S. Opium dens were a staple in lots of communities. When the Chinese were brought to America to build the railroads, they appeared to take jobs from white men and the U.S. devised a plan. Any Chinese caught with opium or in an opium den would be jailed. Forget the fact that white folks smoked it until they felt threatened by the Chinese workers. Cocaine was another drug widely used in lots of segments in society. But fear that the black man would ingest the drug and rape white women caused swift punishments for its users. Cocaine would then be considered illegal as it is still today. What better way to control ethnic populations when you fear them? Change the laws and make "their" punishment greater. Hence, the 1980's 100 to 1 crack sentencing guidelines. Between profiling, the unjust judicial system, privatization of prisons and Americas history it's amazing the hue-man survives.

Hell, you don't need a father figure to raise good black men in Norristown. Children need caring parents, period!! Kids are raising themselves. The adults in their lives do not hold them accountable. I have four sisters, all living in Norristown. We have raised a total of 6 boys. They are all college graduates, four with Master degrees. All are gainfully employed. None with a criminal record.
