Man Cited After Causing 3-Car Skippack Crash, Police Say Skippack Crash

Five people were injured in the incident, which occurred outside of Basta Pasta on Skippack Pike.

A Schwenksville man was cited after allegedly causing three-car crash that injured five  just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Karl Tiede, of Schwenksville, was in his 2012 Jeep Wrangler waiting to turn right out of the of Basta Pasta Italian Café parking lot, located at 4052 Skippack Pike in Skippack, when he failed to see a Ford F150 truck approaching, traveling westbound, police say.

The truck struck the Jeep near the driver’s side area, and it then veered into the opposing lane and struck a 2013 Acura TL that was traveling eastbound head-on.

Tiede suffered moderate injury in the crash, according to police.  He was taken to Einstein Hospital along with the three occupants of the truck, who suffered minor injury. 

The driver of the Acura also suffered a minor injury, but was not taken to the hospital, police say.

On Monday, Tiede was cited for violating Pennsylvania code on a vehicle entering or crossing a roadway.

Skippack Fire Co., Fire Police and EMS responded to the scene, and the Harleysville and Lower Frederick EMS assisted.

All three united were towed from the scene; the crash investigation is ongoing.
