An Eagleville man was arrested on drug charges after a back alley altercation with a Phoenixville Police officer in the borough last week, the department is reporting.
According to court documents, on January 9 at approximately 10:45 p.m., an officer saw Chris Lance Jones Jr., 20, duck into an alley on the 200 block of Church Street. The officer approached Jones and asked if he lived there, to which the man answered “no”, before attempting to brush past the officer and leave the alley.
The officer told the man to stop, but he headed west on Church Street. The officer repeated his request, but the man just turned and headed east on Church Street.
As the man turned, he appeared, the officer wrote in the affidavit, to be holding a silver object in his right hand, which had been inside his jacket pocket.
The officer then reached for Jones’ arm as the man yelled, “Don’t touch me!”
The officer patted Jones down and found no weapon, but a small glass jar that contained what lab testing later confirmed was marijuana.
Chris Jones Jr. was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces preliminary hearing on February 14.
